These are the backstairs to the old Worster House Hotel - a fifty room brick and granite edifice built in 1832. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Daniel Webster all slept here, though it advertised itself as the home for traveling salesmen plying their wares in Central Maine. It's currently being "renovated" to become office space for state workers. How the mighty have fallen.

Nice structures and toning. Very well spotted.

What's not to like here, Bill? The textures are sublime, along with the delicate light and the way that the steps peppered with a dusting of snow, splay outwards in such a gorgeous manner. This is so pleasing to the eye, and I just keep staring at it. Utterly superb

Excellent composition and tones, I love the way it leads my eye down the staircase. Looks perfect in B&W too. Wish we had snow like that in Australia :-(.

I like all the geometry in this shot, and with the snow and B&W it lends an almost abstract effect. I also love the varied textures of the stones.
