A large excavator has been working the field behind my house for weeks - turning an old overgrown, lumpy lot filled with weeds, shrubs, wet holes, beetles and toads into a rather bland and boring flat, green monoculture.

Oh yeah ! Truly magic your post-processing ! You're a master. What an impressive fantastic mood here ! This wide angled picture + HDR + this threatening sky = could make a cover for a Stephen King's novel ! Wow, wow ! Bravo.
