My grandfather, who lived on the first floor of our three story house, used the old Chock full o' Nuts coffee cans to store screws, bolts, and other odds and ends in our cellar. When I was about 18 years-old, I bought a motorcycle (much to my mother’s consternation). It didn’t run very well though, so during the winter I decided to dismantle the engine to see if I could figure out what was wrong with it. As I took it apart, I carefully laid out each piece on the cellar floor, with all the appropriate blots and nuts placed adjacent to each part so I could figure out how to put it back together. At one point I went away for a weekend and when I returned I found my grandfather had gone down the cellar, seen the big “mess? I had created and had dutifully cleaned things up, putting all the engine parts into a big wooden box and sorting all the bolts and nuts into several Chock full o’ Nuts cans, depending on their size. It took me months to figure out how to put it all back together again.
