Doing a "funeral walk" on a parcel of land that's slated to be sub-divided into 35 house lots I came across this tree, recently fallen. Did it anticipate it's fate?

It is amazing what is beneath a tree, and this is only a small part of it!

Not so long ago, the storms in Western BC devestated my favourite location at Goldstream provincial park, and so many of the beautiful and elderly trees were lost.
There were a peppering of fallen ones just like this, and I walked around so sad, feeling as though I had lost old friends. They can be several hundred years old, and lost in a few seconds.
The power of nature, magnificently captured here. Very nice perspective, capturing that devestation
